Swimming makes you ravenous
Delaying your eating after exercise may be a little harder if you have just been for a swim. This may help explain why people who swim struggle to lose as much weight as those who jog or cycle. Cold water may be invigorating, but studies have shown that it could increase your appetite enough to cause weight gain: participants who swam in cold water ate 44 per cent more kilojoules after exercise than those who swam in warm water.
